Making Quantum a National Capability Stack!
This week’s Quantum headlines looks something like below -
The White House issued a new quantum innovation order that explicitly spans quantum computing, sensing, networking, commercialization, workforce, and national security, turning quantum into a coordinated federal priority rather than a collection of research programs.
The U.S. Department of Commerce announced letters of intent with multiple companies for up to $2 billion in planned funding to accelerate quantum hardware, manufacturing, and large-scale fault-tolerant systems.
Microsoft reported that its latest quantum chip is vastly more reliable than its previous version, reinforcing that hardware error rates and stability are improving at the device level.
Vendors like Quantinuum and HPE, along with NVIDIA and major HPC centers, are working to integrate quantum systems with high‑performance computing and AI infrastructure, pushing hybrid quantum–classical workflows toward production.
In Europe and the UK, new programs and strategies are funding quantum‑ready, modular data-center infrastructure, photonics-based platforms, and national hubs across communications, computing, imaging, sensing, and timing.
Dedicated initiatives such as the Grand Challenge on Quantum Sensors for Inertial Navigation highlight that quantum sensing and navigation in GNSS‑denied environments are now treated as strategic capabilities in their own right.
